Drone Sightings Expand Beyond New Jersey as Officials Criticize Federal Response

Mysterious Drone Sightings in New Jersey Spark Calls for Federal Action as Reports Spread to Nearby States
Hundreds of unexplained drone sightings in New Jersey have prompted increasing demands for stronger federal action. The calls for transparency come as additional sightings are reported in New York, Pennsylvania, and Maryland.
“What is happening is outrageous. Thousands of drones and unmanned aerial systems are flying above us, and our government is not telling us who’s operating them and for what purpose,” Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, R-N.Y., stated during a press conference in Staten Island on Friday.

Malliotakis expressed disbelief, saying, “I don’t believe that the United States of America, with its military capabilities, does not know what these objects are. What we’re asking is for honesty—just tell us what is going on.”

Despite bipartisan pressure from elected officials, the White House indicated that the Department of Homeland Security, FBI, and local law enforcement agencies have been unable to verify any of the reported sightings.
The U.S. Secret Service confirmed in a statement to NBC News that it does not currently have any unmanned aerial systems operating in or near New Jersey or New York.
An apparent drone was spotted over Randolph, N.J., on December 4, 2024, in a sighting captured on camera. Meanwhile, New York Governor Kathy Hochul posted on X (formerly Twitter), acknowledging drone sightings in the state but emphasizing that there is "no evidence these drones pose a public safety or national security threat" at this time.
The situation is escalating, with dozens of sightings caught on camera in New Jersey. Overnight, 79 drone sightings were reported in the state, heightening concerns over safety and privacy.

As the mystery deepens, officials and residents alike are calling for clear answers and swift action to address the growing unease surrounding these unexplained aerial activities.
